If you have not purchased a Christmas CD yet this season, do yourself a favor and purchase this one. I bought this last year and let a relative listen to it. I never got it back because it became her favorite Christmas CD. So, I bought a second one for me. I am not a country music fan but one can't help but like Clint Black and the songs on this CD which range in emotion from spiritually moving without being preachy to playful and childlike with imaginitive lyrics. The stories put forth in song should put a smile on your face and warm your heart during the Christmas season. If you are a fan of Clint Black, country music, country Christmas, or Christmas music in general, you should add this to your holiday listening list. |  | | | A quintessential country Christmas album (5 stars)

If the record comapny's going to re-package Clint Black's "Looking For Christmas" CD with 2 new tracks, then I wish they'd call it "Looking For Christmas - Expanded Edition" (or something like that) so as not to mislead buyers into thinking that it's a whole new collection of Clint Black Christmas songs. It's really ashame that this is basically the same CD as "Looking For Christmas" because I thought that original CD was pretty lame. Others apparently share this perception as well since it's available used on Amazon for less than the shipping charge! Oh- but now with this really cool (sarcasm) expanded edition with 2 new songs and a new title, you get maybe 35 minutes of music instead of just 30. Evidently Clint didn't have time to record enough songs for a whole new CD. What a joke! | | | | Country's top Christmas album re-released with two new songs (5 stars)
I have always enjoyed Clint Black's music since his first album Killin' Time was released in 1989. When this CD came out a few years ago under the title Looking For Christmas, I picked it up immediately since that is my tendency with new Black releases.
Since Black wrote all of the songs, I wasn't sure what to expect. Thankfully, it was as good as I'd hoped it would be with not a dud in the lineup. My favorite tune "Christmas For Every Boy & Girl" has an epic feel to it, the London Symphony orchestra helping Black create new age music that John Tesch could only dream about making. The thought-provoking "Looking For Christmas" is almost as grand, with a renaissance sound not usually (ok, not ever) heard in country music. The multi-layered religious ode "Birth Of A King" is choir-style singing at its best.
Lest you think Black is all serious about this special holiday, it should be pointed out that about half of the CD is devoted to fun numbers like "Slow As Christmas" and the harmonica featured "Til Santa Comes (Milk & Cookies)" that will appeal to the kid in everyone. A little romance gets it turn with "Under The Mistletoe" as well.
To sum it all up, this was one of the best balanced, most creative, musical tributes to Christmas ever. Now, it is even better, as Black has re-released it on his own label with two strong new tracks: the humorous romp "Santa's Holiday Song" and the yearn-filled ballad "Christmas With You."
