Additional Info: Tracks Reviews
Early Willie on Capitol (5 stars) Willie Nelson's Capitol sides are among his first. And they are highly underrated, too. Songs like 'Funny How Time Slips Away,' 'Crazy,' 'Hello Walls' and even 'Undo The Right' all became fan favorites, and the first two of the songs listed above became massive hits for Willie later on, while 'Crazy' was a huge success for country legend Patsy Cline, who had a hit with it in the early '60s (Willie did write the song, FYI).
But meanwhile, 'Country Classics' zeroes in on some of these legendary EMI sides. You get 20 great ones, including some of the underrated ones, like 'Mr. Record Man' and one of my favorites from his early years, 'Columbus Stockade Blues.'
Overall, it's a fairly decent compilation that is worth looking into if you haven't checked out any of Willie's early Capitol sides. It is great stuff, and any of his EMI material is highly recommended.
But note that this is an import, and it costs a little more and you may have to do some "hunting down" to find it. But if you look and find it, chances are you'll love every song.
Highly recommended for any Willie fan. Classic songs. ENJOY!!!
